What:

The Oral Reading Records (ORR) application is an assessment tool for monitoring students' reading ability and planning reading instructions accordingly.

Who:

  • Classroom teachers, reading specialists, and others who evaluate students reading performance and progress over time.
  • Students take the test either in an one-on-one session with the teacher or on their own as an assignment.

  • How:

Teachers use the Oral Reading Records application to assess students' reading performance by administering the assessment one on one (by sending it to their device) or by assigning them to the students, analyzing reading behaviors, and planning for instruction based on suggested next steps.

    My Role:

    Lead UX and Product Designer
  • Overseeing the entire UX and product design process, from defining the UX strategy and research to producing the prototype.
  • Working closely with the product and development teams to successfully launch the MVP and post MVP.

  • Story:

The minimum viable product (MVP) was designed and developed in nine months. The first release was in June 2019, and the second phase was in the mid-school year 2020.
